Trifecta - Fall 2026
Join us for an engaging literary experience at Grayson College! Trifecta is a unique community class that brings books, movies, and meaningful conversations together. During each session, participants will: read a carefully selected book, play, or other literary work (both fiction and nonfiction); watch the movie adaptation or attend a live performance when available; participate in lively discussions, thought-provoking lectures, and interactive activities that bring each story to life. Throughout the semester, participants will also enjoy special presentations from local authors, Grayson College faculty, and other guest speakers, making every class a new opportunity to learn and connect.

Drawing: Basics of Shape and Form
Learn to use line and shape to make forms. Start simply and slowly, building in complexity over the class period. By the end of the class, the objective is to have some basic line and shape drawing skills for use in the next class period. Ages: 16 years and up

Drawing: From Form to Figure
Use forms to make figures. Start with stick figures, silhouettes, and basic shapes to get a feel for three-dimensional objects, people, etc. The concept of proportion is introduced, and the objective by the end of class is to be able to draw rough sketches of humans and other figures in proportion. Ages: 16 years and up

Drawing: The Human Face and Adding Details
Use line, shape, and form to detail the human face and other forms. The topic of shading is introduced. Facial proportions are focused on, and the goal by the end of the class is to be able to create more complete sketches which can be used for more complex works. Ages: 16 years and up

Drawing: Basics of Shading, Color Theory, and Painting
Learn basic color theory and shading skills. Once learned, color and shade can be added to complete sketches to create more detailed drawings or completed paintings. The goal by the end of class is to be able to put all skills together and use reference material or live models to create fully drawn or painted portraits and figures. Ages: 16 years and up

Kinusaiga - Japanese No Sew Art Form
Kinusaiga is a traditional Japanese art form that creates the appearance of a quilt without sewing. Students will use pre-cut foam boards and fabric scraps to create a colorful fabric picture by tucking fabric into shallow grooves. This introductory class is designed to be relaxed, creative, and achievable for first-time participants. Ages: 16 years and up
